One Year Stats

Weight: 19 lbs. 2 ounces (I promise I do feed her)
Height: 29 1/2 inches
Head: 48 cm

And here are the glorious things that she is doing these days

Pulls up on anything everything
Babblesand squeals ALL.THE.TIME (she gets that from me)
Says and waves bye bye to EVERYONE and EVERYTHING
Plays tug o'war with the dog and his toys
Still rolling all over the place, however now she must have at least one toy in her hand while doing so
Loves playing patty cake and peekaboo. All you have to do is say patty cake and she squeals while clapping her hands.
Words are mama, dada, dog, hi, bye, duck, ball, more (sounds more like muh), NO....that seems to be her favorite, night night (nigh nigh) and sh*t (I am NOT proud of this one and have since scratched that from my vocabulary permanently)
Does the cheer to C-A-T-S Cats, Cats, Cats (you have to be a UK fan to know this one)
If you cough, she fake coughs back at you
She pinches my neck and pulls my hair but ONLY when she's tired

I can't believe she is the same baby we brought home a year ago. I'm so not ready for her to grow up!

And I've been working on a video for her birthday party on Saturday, and I promise to upload it soon. I would have done it yesterday, but yesterday wasn't one of my best days. Will post about that later.

Random Thoughts

I am in utter disbelief that in two short days my baby will be ONE. I, in the meantime have so much to do to get ready for her party this weekend. We're expecting about 35 people, and I have no idea how I'm going to handle food for that many.

I'm working on a video montage, but now it looks like I will have to change most of it...after I've spent MANY, MANY nights and hours working on it. It's a long story. Let's just say that if I do it my way I will upset and disappoint several people. And we wouldn't want to do that now would we.

Matthew took me out for my birthday. I proceeded to take a few too many shots and made the whole bar sing Happy Birthday to me. It was karaoke night, so it wasn't too much to ask for. He also lost his wedding band, and we've turned the house upside down for it. It's not that I can't get him another one, it's just that it has such sentimental value as I put it on his finger that day and that can never be replaced.

We have to make a decision this week, one that might be the most important decision that we make for a long time. We have to decide whether or not we are going to buy a lot of land to build our dream house on. We've been talking about it for months, but it's time to get off our butts and do something about it. As much as I want for it happen, it scares the living bezeezus out of me.

Ava's acting like she wants to try to drop her afternoon nap. She hasn't had her afternoon nap in almost a week, and it's totally not okay with me. She is however cruising a little bit now so she spends alot of time in her crib doing that.

She also said what appeared to be "shit" the other day. Now don't get me wrong she does babble alot of which 99% is completely un recognizable...but this was as plain as day and Matthew and I looked at each other and cracked up. Oops.

I guess that's all. I'll leave you with a picture of her in her new car seat facing forward. My baby girl is growing up!

Happy Birthday to...

Me!

I'm now 31 years old and for the first time in my life I really don't care about it being my birthday. 1 year and 4 days ago I had a perfect, beautiful baby girl, and no present will ever top that.

Dilemma

As we approach the one year mark, I'm beginning to accept the reality that getting my child off of the bottle is going to be a nightmare. I've already cut down to 4 bottles a day, but 2 of those come at nap time, and one at night. I used to be able to give her the bottle and she would finish it before she would take a nap, but now she will NOT let me give her the bottle, she has to do it herself...and preferably alone in her crib. This is one of our pediatricians biggest pet peeves, and I'm beginning to see why. The problem with Ava is that she does not eat alot of solid foods. We have tried everything but the fact that she only has 2 teeth is a problem for her. Unless it's baby food, she has a hard time eating anything without choking. I can tell she is getting sick of eating the same things and I'm trying to offer new things and mix it up a bit but it's not working.

Another major problems is that she WILL NOT drink anything from a sippy cup. She will get a little bit of whatever is in there in her mouth, and then spit it out. She hates juice (doesn't even like fruit if you can believe that), so I try to give her a little bit of water. I've been working with her on the sippy cup for about 5 months, and we have tried every friggin cup there is out there. She just chews on the spout of the Avent and Gerber ones, and we're making progress with the NuBy...but again she mainly likes to get her mouth full and spit it out. I even put formula in it one time (which I know is a big no no) and that didn't work either. I'm beginning to get frustrated by it. I know the child gets thirsty and I don't want to keep giving her formula past a year if I don't have to...but it looks like we'll be doing this for a while yet.

I'm here

I'm alive...it's just been a hectic and rough week. My best friends grandfather died, and her dad's a pilot and has been out of town so I've been trying to help her tie up loose ends...and help her with her 3 kids. It's such a sad situation because her grandmother is still alive, but she's in a nursing home and too fragile to move. Her grandmother and grandfather hadn't seen each other since Thanksgiving. They were getting ready to move him from the hospital to the same nursing home when things took a turn for the worse. It just breaks my heart that she didn't get to say goodbye. A and I have known each other since first grade so this might as well be my family too.

Oh and I'm also running around like a crazy woman trying to get everything ready for Ava's birthday party. I'm still in shock that she's almost 1. But I'll worry about that next week, I need to be there for my friend right now.

Have a good weekend, I hope your basketball teams win because I'm not holding my breath for ours.

My life is so predictable

Internet? Meet my own personal hell. So here we are halfway through the week and you wanna know what edciting happened to me?? My dryer broke. And this is the pile of laundry that seemed to grow by the minute. I spent all last Saturday cleaning, but apparently the one thing I forgot to do was attempt to make a dent in this...and now I'm taking the punishment for it.

You see, laundry is the one household chore that I hate...H-A-T-E. Toilets, no problem....mopping, no problem... scrubbing dog slobber off the walls and furniture, no problem. But I'd rather poke both eyes out than to do laundry. It probably doesn't help that my mom did mine until I went to college, and then she still did it when I came home every weekend.

In other totally non related news, Ava is now pulling up like a champ. I'm guessing I can thank McDreamy for that.

My friend is having a party this weekend...sort of like old high school times. Her parents are going out of town, all the girls are invited and guys can come if they can stomach it. I imagine ames like asshole and 3 man will surely be played and I'm really excited. The only thing not allowed is 20/20. God thinking about that stuff makes me want to puke.

Rock on y'all

Flexibility and other weekend stuff

This post might be heavy on the picture side because nothing I tell you is going to make you want to jump out of your socks.

Saturday was day 2 of Water Babies, and this time Ava had more fun drinking the pool water than actually participating in the day's scheduled activities. But at least she didn't throw a complete temper tantrum like the 2 year old in our class did. Here's a picture...PLEASE excuse how awful I look...my dad promised he would only take pictures of Ava...thanks dad for showing the Internet how badly I need to diet. And for me not realizing how much cleavage I have!

After swimming I sent Ava to my mom and dad's so that I could spend the afternoon cleaning. Yep...on a Saturday. The day of the week I used to swear I would never use for cleaning. I digress, what can I say.

Sunday was pretty much more of the same...church....breakast...watch our basketball team get beat on national TV. The excitement can clearly be seen here on Ava's face.

And on a total side note...since I still can't figure out how to upload videos on here, I had to try to take a picture of Ava in the act of her new trick. She lays on the floor, puts her feet up straight, and then does some sort of leg spread eagle thing. I was a cheerleader for 12 years and I was never this flexible. This child amazes me every day by finding new and improved ways to crack me up.

Have a great week!

Nada...nil...nothing

That's the title because really it's been one of those kind of weeks. I did try for hours to upload some hilarious videos of Ava on here, but since I'm completely useless when it comes to Blogger, I can't figure out how to do it. Maybe another day.

Other than that, here are the not so exciting highlights to my week:

Monday - had minor toe surgery to remove completely annoying infected toenail
Tuesday - sat and watched friends play tennis while sidelined with aforementioned toe procedure
Wednesday - went to UK Game with best friend ever
Thursday - nothing....didn't even leave the house. Pathetic I know
Friday - went along with 200 of my closest friends to huge local baby consignment thing and racked up on some killer deals for my child. P.S...I don't even know 200 people, so they weren't really my friends. I did however drag one friend with me.
Saturday - well, that's tomorrow so I don't know what I've done yet, but I do know we're going to water babies first thing in the morning so I anticipate it to be a glorious day.

In Ava news, she decided that Wednesday's Kentucky game would be a perfect time to perfect the art of clapping. She's been at it for weeks, and finally made a noise and now claps on demand! Unfortunately my parents were the ones to witness this glorious occasion as I was off watching the game in it's live version. She has also decided that she MUST touch all four sides of her crib with her feet, then roll over twice before falling asleep....always followed by a one minute mini tantrum. And lastly, she decided today would be a good time to play tug o war with the dog toys....and the dog. It was super cute and I have it on video...so you will just have to use your imagination. Thank goodness I have a patient pup and that while its okay for her to play with his toys, it is totally unacceptable or him to come within 3 feet of hers. That's only fair right??

That's all...
