Note to self...

Please remind yourself that you sort of live in the country, and that leaving the garage door open at night may not be the smartest thing to do. Cue: husband. I came upstairs tonight, noticed that the door to the garage wasn't locked (one thing that he actually does at night, WOW what an accomplishment huh), so I opened the door to a 15 pound white possum and her babies rummaging through the shit in my garage. I'm sure the mommy possum didn't really weight 15 pounds but I didn't have time to grab my stun gun or scale, or even better I didn't have time to grab the camera. And all this went on, and naturally the dog sat and did...well, nothing. Stuck his nose in the doorway and that was it.

This is not my friend, but close enough...I'll never forget.

I will have nightmares from this, as my hair is still itching.

Yucky..I actually saw one running through my yard yesterday (through the window) and I live in the city. I have never seen one around here before, I screamed!

Guh. Nasty things. We have one that consistently shows up on our patio. It eats the cats food if there is any in the bowl. We have gotten in the habit of making sure nothing is left out but water, so now it just drinks. ugh.

Its BIG too. And the cats just sit and stare at it. LOL

T says he is gonna buy a BB gun...LOL

Oh those things are everywhere. I saw one in the middle of downtown Chattanooga one night. We used to find them stuck in our trash cans when I was a kid....pretty disgusting.

Did you say, "Thanks, hun?" LOL! Those critters are just gross! Before we moved into our house that we had built 3 years ago, @ the house we lived in then (actually it was the house that Bobby grew up in) there was a Mama possum that would come on our back porch every.single.nite.! It was kinda gross how we found out it was a "mama"~Bobby got his BB gun & shot @ her & she took off running & some of her babies fell off of her & she came running back to get them!

I so know what you mean by you'll never forget~those kind of experieces stayed etched in your memory forever!

We frequently have them in our yard and they are mean. We get even better visitors though. We have now had our second mountain lion in the last six weeks or so. We have frequent visits from skunks!

Kinda creepy but I have to admit, also kind of cute. About 2 years ago, a momma possum left about 8 of her babies in my backyard and they were newborns. Ihad no idea what to do with them (my husband was out of state)...it was so sad. Some of them disappeared but many died and I really felt bad about it.
Funny story though...one time by best friend went to the bathroom in the middle of the night and for some reason turned on the light (she usually didn't). Good thing she did because there was a possum swimming in her toilet!!!!

That makes me shiver with disgust! I would have been screaming so loud had I seen that in my garage. I don't do well with wild animals.

Did they just leave on their own?
