As we approach the one year mark, I'm beginning to accept the reality that getting my child off of the bottle is going to be a nightmare. I've already cut down to 4 bottles a day, but 2 of those come at nap time, and one at night. I used to be able to give her the bottle and she would finish it before she would take a nap, but now she will NOT let me give her the bottle, she has to do it herself...and preferably alone in her crib. This is one of our pediatricians biggest pet peeves, and I'm beginning to see why. The problem with Ava is that she does not eat alot of solid foods. We have tried everything but the fact that she only has 2 teeth is a problem for her. Unless it's baby food, she has a hard time eating anything without choking. I can tell she is getting sick of eating the same things and I'm trying to offer new things and mix it up a bit but it's not working.
Another major problems is that she WILL NOT drink anything from a sippy cup. She will get a little bit of whatever is in there in her mouth, and then spit it out. She hates juice (doesn't even like fruit if you can believe that), so I try to give her a little bit of water. I've been working with her on the sippy cup for about 5 months, and we have tried every friggin cup there is out there. She just chews on the spout of the Avent and Gerber ones, and we're making progress with the NuBy...but again she mainly likes to get her mouth full and spit it out. I even put formula in it one time (which I know is a big no no) and that didn't work either. I'm beginning to get frustrated by it. I know the child gets thirsty and I don't want to keep giving her formula past a year if I don't have to...but it looks like we'll be doing this for a while yet.

I wish I could offer some advice but I got nothin'. Evie didn't really like her bottle that much so it wasn't a big deal to take her off of it. I wouldn't worry about it too much and I would just start putting her whole milk in the bottle instead of formula. Our pediatrician started Evie on whole milk at 11 months so we put it in the bottle for a little while. Other than that, I really have no idea how to help. Sorry!
I wish I could help you too but it was easy breezy w/both of my boys. We tried every.single.brand w/Kendall & he didn't like them but then they came out w/the Nuby ones & it worked like a charm~he loved them! Hope it gets better w/Ava~just give her some time~w/some babies it just takes a little longer because it's new/different for them.
